Mystery Blogger Award

OK, So this is long overdue. Erica, over at The Ginger Effect nominated me for this award like forever ago, and I am just now getting it done. I love Erica’s blog because she tells her story about adopting her baby girl Stella and does it with humor, and sometimes grace 😉 All joking aside I love reading her posts she always puts a smile on my face

Check out what Stella had to say this morning that made me burst out laughing here

What is the “Mystery Blogger Award” ?

It’s an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.

It appears to have been started by Okoto Enigma – I’m not entirely sure how long it’s been running for, and am not about to spend the afternoon digging through back-links to trace it’s route (although that does sound like a fantastic diversion for a quiet afternoon).

If I nominate you, you can take part too – and there are a number of simple rules to abide by:

Rules

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • You have to nominate 10 – 20 people.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).
  • Share a link to your best post(s).

Three things about me:

Chill Mom

I’m kind of an Introvert. Especially in the winter. I do not like going out among the general population, it isn’t like anxiety exactly, it is more just general disgust. People can be so nasty sometimes. Be it either rude or just gross. But then there are times that I enjoy going out. Maybe it’s just old age. I have seemed to have become an intolerable old biddy.

I have joined Quora to get a bit more traffice to my blog. I think it has worked. But I won’t know for a while. The interesting thing is that I enjoy it. I love giving my advice out. Weird but I like it.

I love to redecorate my house, I am constantly changing our rooms and wanting to paint. I know that it isn’t feasible, you can’t change the color of a room 3 times a year! I loved painting our house, it can be very relaxing.

Questions asked of me

  1. What is your biggest fear? Having something happen to my kids or my husband
  2. What is your favorite childhood memory? My dad and I walking down the road and him flinging me under his legs, like swinging me. He passed away when I was 15, so I don’t have a lot of memories of him.
  3. What is your weirdest pet peeve? People that don’t use signal lights. Drives me crazy. People need to know what you are doing in advance.
  4. If you had to become an animal, what would it be and why? I would love to be a bird to fly to different places. They just seem so chill and calm.
  5. What is your favorite album of all time? I’m not much into albums and such, I really enjoy Marianas Trench mainly because AJ is one of their biggest fans and helped her get through a rough patch in her life. And of course, Nicole loves them as well.

People I nominate:

Dutch goes the photo

Beckies mental mess

Laura’s Self Development

Cooking adventures

Swiss family Sabbatical

Mental Health @ Home

Pipers Adventures

Megha’s World

David Snape

Revenge of Eve

My five questions

1-What is the weirdest scar you have and how did you get it?

2- Shark diving, bungee jumping, or sky diving?

3-What is one of the weirdest things you used to do as a teenager?

4-In your opinion, what is the best Disney movie to come out since Disney’s Golden Age?

5-What is your favorite Wikipedia article? (Shuddup. Everyone has one.)

And while I love this awards I am horrible at coming up with questions, So I have to thank Kendra Syrdal Because I got these questions right from her blog.

This is my best post so far, Anxiety and the Holidays

Well that was quite the week

I am sorry my fellow bloggers, I left my last blog post in the middle. My pupper had a medical emergency and I had to drop everything and get her to a vet. Hubby came home and we took her down. Luckily she is ok now. They gave her a shot and we brought her home. Apparently, she ate some beads from Nicole’s room that had some slime on them…Slime has glue, which is poisonous to dogs.

Following that horrendous day we had AJ’s Christmas party with her friends, and then took them skating at a rink that we rented for an hour (at Midnight) for them. That was so much fun. The kids enjoy that so much.

We had a lovely Christmas, Nicole received her Gopro (generic brand) and another camcorder for her youtube videos. AJ got her new vinyl player and a bunch of other teenage stuff.

I received new lenses for my camera and my new Stephen King novel, that I have been waiting impatiently to read. We had a fabulous Christmas dinner over at Hubbies Stepfathers place, where we all pitched in and cooked a feast fit for Kings and Queens. On our way home there were cops blocking our way, we had high winds and it knocked some power poles down. Hubby ended up going on two calls for the fire department. It was a little insane. But we got a game of Cards Against Humanity in (Hilarious, if you have an open mind).

Today is the first time I have been able to sit down and do up a post. I haven’t been on WordPress at all, just checked my emails and read some posts. I have missed commenting a some that I have enjoyed so I will have to go back and comment on them.

The good news is that we received a family doctor finally. And his clinic is in a building shared with an ADHD Clinic. So we go see him on Jan. 2nd. Nicole is super pumped to try her new pills and maybe seeing a specialist about her ADHD and anxiety. We will be seeing someone about the OCD in the coming year as well. Especially now that we have a family doctor that can refer her to someone!

We still have New Years to go, which we don’t really do anything Special…Chinese Food and a movie…at home. We are not big parties and I do not enjoy large crowds of drunken idiots…So we stay in. Typically hubby works the next day anyway. He will want to be home to respond too, I’m sure New Year’s Eve is a busy time for the fire department.

I hope every one of you are enjoying your Holidays. I am going to finish up some chores, maybe take my camera out for a photo shoot of the harbor (it is -27 here with the wind chill and the fog coming off the harbor is stunning).

Happy Holidays from Hyper Child and Chill Mom

PS We have been nominated for another award WHOO HOO…I will be doing that post very soon!!! Thanks, Ginger Effect!

Sucked into the Vortex

I’ll admit it, I have been sucked into a vortex of book reviewing. I love reading advanced copies of books, and then telling the world what I think of them…but it has its toll. I have a huge amount of books in my spare room, waiting for me to pick them up and sink into their worlds of fantasy, mystery, and travel. When will I get to them, if I am constantly adding advanced copies to my reading list?

I just got invited to Blogging for books as well, and crown publishing has invited me to read a book, do I accept everything, and keep reading?

Don’t forget all my household chores of laundry, vacuuming, dusting, dishes and making biscuits, cookies, and suppers. Then we have the motherly duties to Nicole and AJ, helping with homework, getting projects done for school. Hubby has a list that needs to be completed as well, getting his uniform clean for his weekly firefighting training night (have I told you I love Tuesday nights, it is my reset night, bath and a book). Kids and hubby gone for the night I can sink into a mildly hot bath and reset my weary body.

And yet in the past week, I have read three or four books. Is it because I can read faster when they are on my kindle? I just seem to power right through them. But my books on the shelves have been left to gather dust (oh yes I need to dust down there as well), oh shit, did I walk the dog yet?

“mom where is my…”, “Mom did you find…” “Babe, did you make my biscuits”, “Is my uniform ready?”

Sounds around me while I sit on the couch trying to catch up on my reading…

Maybe I should go get Nicole’s uniform and sew on that badge she earned…Shit is it even clean?

But still I find the time to grab my dell and check out a few blogs, add some comments to the blogs I just can not ignore, post a blog and a book review before I turn back to my neverending laundry. (I don’t think my washer is ever not going)

Do you have a million things that need to get done, but you just keep reading?

Just wanting to share!

Well it has been a good week here at #HyperChildChillMom household. Hubby has been working hard bringing home the mula, and studying to become a Fire Fighter. Who would have thought that becoming a volunteer fireman was this big of a process. He applied last December, roughly, and he will be graduating in December. I’m grateful for all the testing and training though, I will feel safer every time he heads out on a call!

Baritone Saxophone
Sometimes other things have to fade into the distance, while others remain front and center.

My oldest daughter has been invited to join the Tri-service Cadet band. This is a distinguished honor, only the top cadet musicians within Nova Scotia get asked to participate within this band. She has wanted to join them since she join her cadet band 5 years ago. She is “a very tiny human”; her words not mine, but I do agree, she is tiny, but plays baritone saxophone. She took a year off last year to focus on  the ground school aspect but has returned and it has payed off. She doesn’t know for sure if she is going to join because she has A LOT on her plate at the moment with it being her grade 12 year and being WO2 it is busy, but if she does it means she will be in the Nova Scotia International Tattoo; a huge thing here in Nova Scotia, and for her. I suspect she wants to for sure, but she is very busy. I will not be nagging her, for this is a decision that she has to make on her own. I will respect either decision she makes.

I received my first approval on NetGalley to review a book. I’m super excited to get started reviewing more. I am in the process of starting a novel: I have had this idea  lurking in my mind for a few years now and as I get more and more into it, I see it taking shape and I am enjoying every minute of it. Reading more, reviewing and blogging is helping with my writing. Getting me back into writing stories and helping with my grammar as well. I can now sit and pop out 1000-1500 words a day. Its great! I also have the luxury of a husband that works none stop so that I can stay at home and raise our children and keep our home clean and cozy! I do have lots of time to research and write.

Cadet Sisters
Can you say role model?

Nicole is enjoying cadets; making friends, participating in extra activities. They had a CO’s Parade on Monday and it was the first time they were both in uniform. I was so proud of both my little air cadets and how much they have both grown. I was proud of Nicole for standing during the parade and just being their! So also received her first badge to add to her uniform; which reminds me I have some sewing to do before Saturday. They have Remembrance day parade this Saturday and then next Saturday they have a level one day and Parade of lights. Let the Holidays begin!!!! It definitely keeps them both busy, and this is exactly what Nicole needs, more structure and activities!

Nicole has been heading to school, getting there for the most part on time, and her goal this week is to go all week! One more day and she will achieve it and she will get a reward! They had an incident at the school yesterday and everyone was upset. But I am proud of her for going today. She has spoken to the guidance counselor and I’m sure that has gone a long way in helping her go! One of her teachers talked to her about the bullying and told her to tell him whenever they start bothering her.

Overall things are looking up. She hasn’t been taking medication and although she is bored when doing her projects at home and at school, she is getting them done. It is taking her longer; but the teachers are supporting her by letting her work on Laptops and such, which is great! I’m asking her doctors to try her on a non stimulant medication. See if that make any difference.

Guess that is all for now, keep blogging everyone!
